Hyperopia

"Farsightedness"

Hyperopia is characterized by a difficulty in focusing on near objects, while at a distance they appear clear.  It results from an eye with poor focusing power or from an eyeball that is too short and therefore causes objects to be focused at a point behind the retina.  This condition can be treated with glasses, contact lenses and certain laser vision correction procedures.
